Which lounge to choose at LAX, from Tom Bradley to T7

At LAX the useful question is not which lounge is the best, but which terminal you depart from. The lounges are tied to the airlines occupying each building, and only the Tom Bradley, the international terminal, gathers many from different alliances and carriers. For those with only a lounge card, moreover, the room for choice is narrow: it is worth knowing this before you arrive.
The Tom Bradley International Terminal is the heart of the offering. On the upper floors of the Great Hall are the Star Alliance Business and First Lounge, which also sells a paid entry to those flying with an alliance airline and sits alongside a separate room for first class, and the oneworld Business Lounge, on the same floor as the Qantas and Korean Air lounges. The Qantas International First Lounge, however, is temporarily closed because of flooding, and its guests are welcomed in the airline's business lounge.

In the same terminal, those flying premium with a SkyTeam airline have more than one option. The Korean Air Lounge has reopened after a long renovation and the airline describes it as the largest it operates directly outside Korea. The Air France Lounge, open also to KLM and eligible SkyTeam customers, has showers and a Clarins treatment area. The Emirates Lounge offers showers, a business centre and a view of the terrace. With an American Express Platinum or Centurion card, the lounge to look for is The Centurion Lounge: you take the lift down from the Great Hall, and inside there are showers, a family room and the Sunrise and Moonrise rooms. With Priority Pass, on the other hand, you get into the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse, but by paying a surcharge and only during the hours when it is open, that is, in the windows preceding Virgin departures. Among the expected novelties is the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club, announced as coming near gate 148 with a view of the runway. Outside the Tom Bradley, each terminal has its own airline. At Terminal 3 Delta has two very different lounges: the Delta Sky Club, with an indoor bar and an outdoor one on the Sky Deck terrace overlooking the Hollywood hills, open also to holders of eligible American Express cards, and the Delta One Lounge, reserved for those with a same-day Delta One ticket, with a sushi bar and a direct lift from the dedicated check-in. American Airlines has the Admirals Club at Terminal 4 and, next to it, the Flagship Lounge for business and first class, both open despite the works in the terminal; a second Admirals Club at the Tom Bradley stays open past midnight for late-evening international departures. At Terminal 7 United offers the United Club for members and Star Alliance Gold and the United Polaris Lounge for long-haul business, while at Terminal 6 the Alaska Lounge sells the day pass through its app.
The rule at LAX is simple: terminal first, then the access title. With a premium ticket you go to the lounge of your own airline or alliance, and at the Tom Bradley it is worth checking whether your lounge is open or replaced. With an Amex Platinum, the Centurion is the most complete choice for showers and family spaces; with Priority Pass alone, what remains is the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse, with a surcharge and during the hours of its flights.
