Bermuda: main airports
Bermuda has a single airport: L.F. Wade International Airport, near Hamilton, the only air gateway to the British archipelago in the Atlantic.
Bermuda: recommended activities
Bermuda: visa and entry requirements
Most nationalities (European Union, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia) do not need a visa for tourist stays, generally up to 90 days (up to 180 for US, UK and Canadian citizens). No authorisation needs to be applied for in advance: on arrival you fill in the customs declaration and receive the entry stamp. The passport must be valid for the duration of the stay.
Bermuda: safety
Bermuda is among the safest destinations in the world for tourists, with violent crime virtually absent in tourist areas. The usual precautions (not leaving valuables in sight, especially on rented mopeds) are sufficient. Hurricane season runs from June to November.
Bermuda: health situation
No vaccination is mandatory for those arriving from Europe. Health facilities are of a good standard, with King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in Hamilton as the main reference point; for complex cases, repatriation to the United States or the United Kingdom is common, hence the usefulness of travel insurance with medical coverage. There are no particular health risks linked to climate or tropical diseases.
Bermuda: currency, payments and connectivity
The currency is the Bermudian dollar (BMD), pegged to the US dollar at a 1:1 rate; the US dollar is accepted everywhere at the same value. Credit cards are widely accepted at hotels, restaurants and shops. Uber does not operate on the island: local taxis are the main means of transport along with the famous rental mopeds (rental cars for tourists are prohibited by law, with very limited exceptions). For connectivity, the operators Digicel and One Communications sell prepaid SIM cards. A national licence is enough to drive a rental moped; driving is on the left.
