A yellow fever certificate is mandatory for entry. Ghana is a malaria-risk area across its entire territory: antimalarial prophylaxis is strongly recommended together with rigorous mosquito protection. Accra's private healthcare facilities are adequate for common emergencies; travel insurance with medical coverage remains advisable.

The currency is the Ghanaian cedi (GHS); credit cards are accepted at international hotels and upscale restaurants, cash remains essential elsewhere. Uber and Bolt operate in Accra. For connectivity, the operators MTN Ghana, Vodafone Ghana and AirtelTigo sell prepaid SIM cards. Ghana is a growing destination for roots tourism among the African American and African-descended diaspora, thanks to the historic slave-trade forts and castles along the coast, including Cape Coast and Elmina.
