Isle of Man: main airports
The Isle of Man is served by Isle of Man Airport, near Castletown, in the south of the island.
A British Crown Dependency with its own autonomous government, it is neither part of the United Kingdom nor of the European Union: it is famous for the Tourist Trophy (TT), the historic motorcycle road race that attracts thousands of enthusiasts from around the world every year, and for its nearly untouched coastal landscapes and moorlands.
Isle of Man: recommended activities
Isle of Man: visa and entry requirements
Citizens of the Common Travel Area (United Kingdom, Ireland, Channel Islands) do not need a passport or visa for entry. For other visitors, the same rules as the United Kingdom generally apply: a stay as a standard visitor is possible for up to 6 months, with a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the entry date.
Isle of Man: safety
The Isle of Man is a very safe destination, with violent crime practically absent.
The only precautions concern the TT period (late May-early June), when traffic and the influx of visitors increase considerably and some roads are closed for the races.
Isle of Man: health situation
No specific vaccinations are required. Healthcare is of good standard, aligned with British standards.
Isle of Man: currency, payments and connectivity
The currency is the Manx pound (IMP), pegged to the British pound (GBP) at par and circulating alongside it; the Manx pound cannot, however, be spent outside the island, so it is advisable to exchange or spend it before leaving.
Credit cards are widely accepted everywhere.
