Jersey: main airports
Jersey is served by Jersey Airport, the largest of the Channel Islands, located off the French coast of Normandy.
A British Crown Dependency with its own autonomous government, it is neither part of the United Kingdom nor of the European Union: it offers extensive sandy beaches such as St Ouen's Bay, the famous La Corbière lighthouse and a historical heritage blending English and French influences.
Jersey: recommended activities
Jersey: visa and entry requirements
Citizens of the Common Travel Area (United Kingdom, Ireland, Isle of Man) do not need a passport or visa for entry. For other visitors, the same rules as the United Kingdom generally apply, with tourist stays possible for up to 6 months.
Jersey: safety
Jersey is a very safe destination, with violent crime practically absent.
The only practical precautions concern the tides, among the largest in Europe: check the timetables before walking on the beaches or exploring the rocky areas exposed at low tide.
Jersey: health situation
No specific vaccinations are required. Healthcare is of good standard, aligned with British standards; non-resident visitors should nonetheless consider travel insurance, since free access to the local healthcare system is not guaranteed as it is in the UK.
Jersey: currency, payments and connectivity
The currency is the Jersey pound, pegged to the British pound (GBP) at par and circulating alongside it; it cannot, however, be spent outside the island, so it is advisable to exchange or spend it before leaving. Jersey is not part of the customs and VAT territory of the UK or the EU.
