Calicut International Airport is in Karipur, 28 km south-east of the centre of Kozhikode, along the NH66: there's no direct train to the terminals and a taxi remains the only practical option, 45-60 minutes depending on traffic. For short stopovers or dawn departures it's best to stay near Karipur and Kondotti, while those with at least a full night will find Kozhikode's old town, SM Street and Mananchira Square. Those looking for the sea before their flight can head to the historic Beach Road, on the opposite side of the city from the airport.
