Chișinău International Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels
Chișinău Airport is located about 13 km from the city centre, with a transfer that usually takes 35-40 minutes by taxi, longer during rush hour. There is no real hotel area right next to the terminal: the Moldovan capital's international hotels are concentrated in the centre, around the Nativity Cathedral and the main boulevards, or in the area of the Malldova shopping centre, slightly more peripheral. The centre remains the most practical choice even for those with just one night, because any hotel still requires a good half-hour transfer from the airport.

Best for: Anyone with more than a short layover: the centre concentrates the chain hotels and the capital's points of interest.
Pros
- Nativity Cathedral, main boulevards and restaurants within walking distance of the hotels downtown
- Wider choice of international chain hotels than on the outskirts
Cons
- Any hotel still requires a 30-40 minute transfer from the airport
- The Malldova shopping centre and its business area remain a more peripheral alternative
