Da Nang International Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels

Da Nang is one of Vietnam's most convenient airports: the centre with the Dragon Bridge is just 3 km away, and even My Khe beach is reached in under 15 minutes. For those with only a couple of hours or a dawn flight, sleeping a step from the terminal makes sense only in extreme cases, because the rest of the city is already very close. Those who want restaurants, the Han River and the bridges lit up at night aim for the centre; those seeking the beach and the big resorts move to the coastal stretch of My Khe and Non Nuoc, a few minutes further east. More isolated, the Son Tra peninsula hosts the most exclusive luxury resorts, reachable only by a scenic road through the nature reserve.

Airport area

Both hotels are 5-9 minutes by car from the terminal.

Best for: Very short layovers or dawn flights, when even 10-15 minutes toward downtown or the beach feel like too much.

Pros
  • As close as possible to check-in, useful only for layovers of a few hours
  • Lower rates than the hotels downtown or at the beach
Cons
  • A dark, little-frequented area in the evening, according to several reviews
  • Downtown and the beach are only minutes away anyway: for multi-night stays those are the better choice

Recommended hotels in this area

  • Hoa Phong Airport Danang Hotel: 9 minutes by car from the terminal, near My Khe Beach; staff is flagged as the strong point, but some reviews complain about noise from an adjacent karaoke bar until late.
  • Dreamy Sky - Airport View Boutique Hotel: About 5 minutes from the terminal, the cheapest option and literally the closest to the airport; to be weighed with caution, since reviews flag issues with cleanliness and hot water.

Centre and the Han River

City centre · About 3 km from the airport, 5-15 minutes by car depending on traffic; no direct bus from the terminal downtown, only taxi or Grab.

Best for: Those who want the Dragon Bridge, riverside restaurants and the Han market within walking distance, while staying very close to the airport too.

Pros
  • The Dragon Bridge, Da Nang Cathedral and the Han market within walking distance of the area's hotels
  • One of the shortest airport transfers in this guide
Cons
  • The beach is 10-15 minutes away, worth considering if you want the sea every day
  • A central area, so more traffic and noise along Bach Dang Street in the evening

My Khe and Non Nuoc, the seafront

Neighbourhood · About 5-6 km from the airport, 9-19 minutes by car depending on the property and traffic; further than the centre but still very convenient compared with other coastal cities in the region.

Best for: Those who want the beach steps from the room, with the big international resorts concentrated along this stretch of coast.

Pros
  • A white-sand beach with direct access from the resorts, among the most appreciated in central Vietnam
  • Pools, spas and restaurants inside the resorts, handy for those who don't want to move around every day
Cons
  • Further from the Dragon Bridge and the historic centre than the hotels on the Han River
  • Higher prices at the upscale resorts, especially in high season

Recommended hotels in this area

  • Pullman Danang Beach Resort: A 3-minute walk from My Khe beach, with an infinity pool and private beach; among the best-rated resorts on this stretch of coast according to reviews.

Son Tra Peninsula

Neighbourhood · About 21 km from the airport but 30 minutes by car, due to the bends of the road crossing the peninsula's nature reserve; no public transport, only a private transfer or the resort's shuttle.

Best for: Those seeking an isolated, design-forward resort, accepting a longer scenic road through the nature reserve to reach the centre and the airport.

Pros
  • A private beach and the peninsula's nature reserve, among the most scenic locations in the region
  • Design by architect Bill Bensley, among the most photographed resorts in Vietnam
Cons
  • The longest and most winding transfer in this guide: to be avoided for short layovers
  • The peninsula's isolation: every trip downtown requires a car and time
