Erzurum International Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels
Erzurum International Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels
Erzurum's airport is 11-14 km from the city centre, which in turn is only 5 km from the slopes of Palandöken: a single compact area that makes it convenient either to sleep in the city, with a free shuttle to the lifts, or to head straight for the mountain. In winter the balance tips toward Palandöken, where the Dedeman Ski Lodge offers near ski-in/ski-out access; for the rest of the year, with the lifts closed, the historic centre around Atatürk University remains the more practical choice.
Erzurum centre
City centre · 11-14 km from the airport, 15-20 minutes by taxi; both hotels in this area offer a free shuttle to the airport and to the lifts of Palandöken.
Best for: Business trips and visits to the historic centre, with a free shuttle to both the airport and the slopes.
Pros
- Free shuttle to both the airport and the Palandöken slopes
- A few minutes on foot from Atatürk University and the historic centre
Cons
- In the depths of winter the roads to Palandöken can be slow due to snow and traffic
- The real historic centre, with the Çifte Minareli Medrese, is still a short taxi ride away

Palandöken
Neighbourhood · About 15 km and 15 minutes from the airport; outside ski season the area is much quieter and isolated from the city.
Best for: Skiers and those who want to sleep at the foot of the slopes, with direct access to the lifts.
Pros
- Near ski-in/ski-out access to the Palandöken slopes
- The Ski Lodge is a boutique hotel just 30 metres from the lifts, the Resort Hotel is larger with a full spa
Cons
- In summer, outside ski season, the area empties out and services are reduced
- The transfer from the airport still requires a dedicated taxi, more expensive than a direct ride into the centre
Recommended hotels in this area
- Dedeman Palandoken Resort Hotel: 187 rooms at the foot of Palandöken, a minute's drive from the lifts; a full spa with massages.
- Dedeman Palandoken Ski Lodge Hotel: The first boutique hotel on Palandöken, 65 rooms 30 metres from the slopes and about 1,000 metres below the mountain's summit.
