Iaşi Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels
Iaşi Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels
Iași Airport is among the closest to the centre of any in Romania: just 6-8 km separate the terminals from the heart of the city, with Iulius Mall about 7 km away and the Palas district, in the civic centre, just over 15 minutes by car. For this reason it makes no sense to distinguish an airport zone from a city zone: wherever you choose to sleep, the transfer remains a short taxi ride, with no dedicated shuttle buses or direct trains.
Iași city
City centre · 6-8 km from the airport, 10-15 minutes by taxi or car; no direct train or bus dedicated to the airport-city route.
Best for: Those arriving for work or to visit the old town and who don't want to waste time on transfers: anywhere in the city you're 10-15 minutes from the airport.
Pros
- A short transfer, practically the same from every district, airport included
- Palace of Culture, Palas Mall and the pedestrian centre within walking distance of the more central hotels
Cons
- No public airport shuttle: you depend on a taxi or your own car
- In the university high season (September-October) traffic on the main roads lengthens travel times
Recommended hotels in this area
- Ramada by Wyndham Iasi City Centre: Right opposite the Palas shopping centre and 7 minutes from the main railway station; a quiet location in the heart of the city despite the name 'City Centre'.
- Hampton By Hilton Iasi: About 6 km and 10 minutes from the airport, in the city's commercial and business district; an airport shuttle on request for a fee, available 24 hours a day.
