James M Cox Dayton International Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels

Dayton's airport is small, just 15-20 minutes from either side of the city: there's little reason to stay near the terminal unless it's a very short overnight layover. Vandalia, the area north of the airport, has the most convenient hotels for early departures or late arrivals, with restaurants and shops along Miller Lane. Travelers staying a few days to visit the Air Force Museum or the historic downtown can base themselves in north Dayton or head further into downtown, where the city's theaters and nightlife are concentrated.
