Despite its historic name tied to Manzini, King Mswati III International Airport is in the rural area of Sikhuphe, in the Lubombo region, about 45-50 km from the city and almost 90 km from the capital Mbabane: there is no hotel near the terminal, and public transport links to the airport are unreliable, so it is always worth arranging a private transfer or a rental car in advance. Manzini nonetheless remains the most practical base, since it is the nearest city with a real range of accommodation: the rest of the region around the airport has only a few scattered lodges, too isolated for anyone who has to catch a flight.
