Dili's airport is just 6 km from downtown, 10-15 minutes by taxi, with no bus or train alternative: in Timor-Leste the taxi is the only practical link between the runway and your room, at any hour. Dili is small and has no real airport hotel zone, so the choice comes down to the Avenida de Portugal seafront, where the best beachfront hotels are concentrated, and the Timor Plaza shopping center, a few hundred meters further inland. With a similar distance to cover wherever you stay, it's worth choosing the area based on your preferred evening life rather than the transfer.
