HiSky: The Moldovan Low-Cost Carrier With Four Fare Classes
HiSky is a low-cost airline group born in Chișinău in 2019 and grown through two linked entities: HiSky, based in Moldova, and HiSky Europe, certified in Romania and based in Bucharest. This dual structure allows it to operate from both the Moldovan and the Romanian market with regulatory flexibility.
The fleet
HiSky Europe uses a mixed fleet of Airbus A319, A320 and A321neoLR aircraft, the latter designed for longer routes. The presence of the neoLR, a longer-range variant, signals the airline's ambition to go beyond the range typically covered by a regional low-cost carrier.
History and positioning
Unlike many low-cost carriers that rely on a single base, HiSky operates from several airports at once, with Bucharest, Chișinău and Cluj among the main ones, plus further links from Iași, Târgu Mureș, Oradea and Baia Mare. It has also obtained authorization to fly to the United States and Canada, aiming at a future intercontinental link with the A330.
Routes and network
The network has about 49 routes to 24 destinations in 12 countries, concentrated on Western Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. It does not belong to any major airline alliance, operating as an independent carrier.
Fares and baggage
One element that sets HiSky apart from other regional low-cost carriers is its four-tier fare structure, Basic, Classic, Premium and Premium Plus, plus a Business cabin, offering increasing degrees of flexibility and included services instead of the classic binary economy/extras scheme.
It suits those who want to choose precisely how much to pay in exchange for flexibility, thanks to the four fare tiers. It is less suitable for those looking for loyalty points redeemable across a major alliance, which is absent from the HiSky model. A practical tip: always check whether the booking goes through HiSky or HiSky Europe, because baggage conditions can differ between the two entities even though they share the brand.
