World2Fly: Iberostar's Airline Flying to the Caribbean and Opening Up to South America

Behind World2Fly is Iberostar, one of Spain's leading tourism and hotel groups: the airline was born in 2022 from the transformation of Evelop!, the group's previous carrier, and is based at Madrid-Barajas airport with a second base in Lisbon. It mainly operates charter and seasonal flights to the Caribbean, Iberostar's historic tourism stronghold, but in recent years it has begun adding scheduled links to South America. The fleet, of just six aircraft, is made up of long-haul Airbus jets.

History and positioning

Unlike traditional charter airlines, which operate almost exclusively at the request of tour operators, World2Fly is gradually adding to pure charter a network of scheduled routes, especially to Colombia and Argentina. It remains a niche carrier all the same, designed to support the tourist traffic the Iberostar group generates to its own hotels in the Caribbean rather than to compete on European scheduled routes.

The fleet

The fleet is made up of Airbus A330-300s and A350-900s, with a capacity of up to 352 seats on the newest A330-300 to enter service and 432 seats on the A350 used on the longest routes to South America. Six aircraft are few to support an expanding network, and this limits the number of frequencies the airline can offer on each route compared with larger carriers.

Routes and network

The historic core of its operations remains in the Caribbean, particularly the Dominican Republic and Cuba, favorite destinations of Iberostar holiday packages. The most significant news concerns South America: from 2025 World2Fly operates Madrid-Cali in Colombia with two weekly frequencies, has extended the Madrid-Cartagena de Indias link through October 2026 and plans a new direct route between Madrid and Rosario, Argentina, from October 1, 2026, with two weekly frequencies.

On board and service

As a carrier born for charter tourist traffic, World2Fly does not publish an unbundled fare structure comparable to that of the low-cost carriers: flights are often sold within holiday packages that include baggage, or as scheduled tickets at a single fare on the new South American routes. There is no consolidated public information on independent passenger ratings, consistent with a business model that still sells largely through intermediaries and agencies rather than directly to the public online.

Anyone buying an Iberostar holiday package to the Caribbean will find World2Fly the natural carrier; anyone seeking flexible fares or alternatives in case of cancellation will need to consider the airline's small fleet, which leaves little room to maneuver. Before booking it is worth checking whether the flight is sold as a charter within a package or as a standalone scheduled ticket, because change and refund conditions differ significantly between the two cases.
