Fukuoka lounges: which to choose, domestic or international
At Fukuoka, lounges are not all the same: some open only to those flying with a particular airline, others remain accessible to anyone with the right card. Between the domestic and international terminals, access criteria, opening hours and even which side of security you start from all change: here's how to find your way among the lounges on offer.
Fukuoka's Domestic Terminal has two distinct faces: airline lounges, reserved for those flying with or holding status with JAL or ANA, and paid lounges open to anyone with the right card. The JAL Sakura Lounge, renovated with large windows facing the runway and decor that draws on local craftsmanship, serves JAL First Class passengers on domestic flights and those with elevated status in JAL's programmes, as well as those arriving in business or first class from a JAL international flight with a tight connection. The ANA Lounge and the ANA Suite Lounge, side by side on the third floor, follow a similar logic but for ANA flights and codeshare partners, with the Suite Lounge reserved for the top-tier members of the Mileage Club programme: one of only five in all of Japan.
Those not flying with JAL or ANA, or without the required status, can still find a seat in one of the Domestic Terminal's two Lounge TIME lounges, both accessible with an affiliated credit card: one is located before security screening, useful for those who still need to complete check-in, the other higher up, beyond security, with a view of the taxiway and a more recent setting.

At the International Terminal, the choice depends mainly on which airline you're flying and what you're carrying in your pocket. The Lounge Fukuoka, awarded among the best in the Asia-Pacific region, welcomes those with Priority Pass or travelling business with partner airlines, with spaces split between a relax area, a business area and a more private VIP room. Korean Air's KAL Lounge instead follows the schedule of its own flights to Seoul and Busan, opening only around departures: Priority Pass holders are admitted only in some time slots of the day, not in the evening one. Those with only an affiliated credit card, without Priority Pass or a Korean Air flight, can turn to the Lounge TIME International, with work stations equipped with power outlets and USB ports.
The choice, ultimately, comes down to two variables: the airline you're flying with, which opens the doors to dedicated lounges, and the type of access you hold for the others, from a credit card to Priority Pass. Those departing from the Domestic Terminal without airline status should look at the TIME lounges; those departing from the International Terminal with Priority Pass have greater room to choose, provided they check whether their flight is covered or limited to certain time slots.
In the end, finding your way among Fukuoka's lounges comes down to two questions: which airline you're flying, whether it entitles you to a dedicated lounge, and which card or programme you hold for the others. Those who don't fit either category can always rely on the Domestic Terminal's paid lounges or the international one with an affiliated card. It's also worth checking each lounge's opening hours before planning your layover, especially for those flying with Korean Air.
