Hanoi airport lounges: how to choose among Noi Bai's rooms

Few airports offer as many lounges as Hanoi's, split between the domestic and international terminals: some are open with Priority Pass or for a fee, others remain reserved only to holders of certain bank cards. With such a wide offering, it is worth choosing by category rather than lounge by lounge, starting from what you have in your pocket rather than the lounges' names.
In the domestic terminal, two very different families of lounges coexist. On one side are the airline lounges, such as Vietnam Airlines's own or the one branded by Vietjet, reserved for their own Business passengers or members of their respective loyalty programmes. On the other, a group of bank lounges tied to institutions such as Vietcombank, SHB or VPBank: here entry is free only for holders of the respective Priority or Diamond cards, with no alternative through Priority Pass or direct payment: anyone without that specific card cannot get in by any means, not even by paying at the reception. Anyone who does not fit either case can still rely on the SH Premium Lounge, which accepts Priority Pass and DragonPass besides on-site payment, or on the nearby SH Elite, built for those who prefer to pay directly without needing a particular card.

The international terminal repeats a similar scheme on a larger scale. The SH family, split between the east wing and the west wing, remains the most open choice for those with Priority Pass or DragonPass, while Vietnam Airlines' Lotus Lounge, recently refurbished, adds a sleeping area built for those in transit or with a long layover. The same chance to rest is found in the lounge run directly by the airport, also useful for Star Alliance Gold members and holders of equivalent status with partner airlines, along with a self-service bar always available. To find your way among the many lounges, it is worth starting with a simple question: do you have a specific bank card, a programme like Priority Pass or DragonPass, or do you simply want to pay for entry? The answer narrows the field right away, terminal by terminal, far more than simple proximity to your departure gate.
Ultimately, in Hanoi the choice depends more on the traveller's profile than on the individual lounge: those with a Priority or Diamond bank card find their own dedicated lounge, those flying with a specific airline often see access tied to their status or ticket class, and those with only Priority Pass or DragonPass can still rely on the SH family's lounges in both terminals, without having to depend on any particular airline. For anyone with a long layover, the only lounges with a genuine sleeping area remain Vietnam Airlines' own and the one run by the airport in the international terminal.
