Hotels near Maastricht Aachen Airport

Maastricht Aachen Airport has no hotels on its own grounds and mainly serves seasonal charter flights and the traffic generated by the TEFAF fair: for anyone arriving with a few days ahead, Maastricht's city centre is almost always the better choice, just 9 km away and reachable by taxi in 10-15 minutes. Arriva's bus 30 links the airport to the station in about 30 minutes, but with only two departures an hour and no service in the very early morning, so anyone leaving at dawn still has to rely on a taxi. With no valid alternative outside the city, the choice comes down to which corner of the centre to prefer: the historic core around the Vrijthof, the station area, or the MECC, the fair and conference hub to the south.

Bus 30 (Arriva) from the airport to Maastricht station in about 30 minutes, two departures an hour on weekdays and none in the very early morning; by taxi the 9 km take 10-15 minutes for 35-45 euros.

Best for: Practically every stay: it's the only area with a real hotel offering, 10-15 minutes by taxi from the terminal.

Pros
  • Quick, direct taxi, essential for dawn flights when the bus isn't running yet
  • Compact historic centre: the Vrijthof, the Basilica of Our Lady and the Bonnefanten Museum are nearly all within walking distance
Cons
  • Bus 30 runs infrequently and stops at night, so outside those hours only the taxi is left
  • The hotels near the MECC, handy for the fairs, are 15-20 minutes on foot from the historic core
