Príncipe Airport PCP

Sao Tome and Principe

Príncipe Airport serves the smaller of the two main islands of São Tomé and Príncipe, close to the city of Santo António.

The runway, modest in size, limits the airport to small-sized aircraft: connections are almost exclusively internal, to São Tomé Island.

Hotels near Príncipe Airport

Príncipe's airport sits right at the edge of Santo António, the island's only real settlement: those with a short layover or wanting to stay within the town will find here the sole urban option, made up of small family-run guesthouses. Most visitors, however, book directly into one of the eco-luxury resorts scattered along the coast, from Bom Bom in the north (12 minutes by car) to Sundy Praia in the south (27 minutes), each reachable with the free shuttle organized by the hotel itself. There are no in-between hotels: on Príncipe the choice is between the town and one of the island's few, isolated resorts.

Frequently asked questions

Q. Do you need a different visa from São Tomé for Príncipe?

No, the two islands form a single country: the same visa on arrival (up to 15 days, extendable to 90) applies to both.

Q. Is Príncipe safe to visit?

Yes, the island is generally considered even calmer than the already safe São Tomé, helped by niche tourism and low population density.

Q. What currency is best to bring to Príncipe?

The São Tomé and Príncipe dobra (STN); given the lack of ATMs and currency exchange at the airport, it's best to arrive with enough cash already, ideally exchanged in São Tomé.

Q. Is Príncipe known for anything in particular?

Yes, the entire island is a UNESCO biosphere reserve, appreciated especially by those seeking untouched nature and ecotourism away from mass-tourism circuits.
