Fiji: main airports
Fiji has two airports with active connections: Nadi Airport, the main international gateway, and Nausori Airport, serving the capital Suva.
Fiji: recommended activities
Fiji: visa and entry requirements
Most Western nationalities, including Italian and EU citizens in general, do not need a visa for tourist stays of up to 4 months. The passport must have at least 6 months of remaining validity beyond the expected departure date from the country, as well as a return or onward ticket.
Fiji: safety
Fiji is generally considered safe for tourists, with a low rate of violent crime; the usual precautions against petty theft in the tourist areas of Nadi and Suva nonetheless remain valid. The main risk for visitors is weather-related: the cyclone season runs from November to April, with possible disruptions to connections.
Fiji: health situation
A yellow fever certificate is required only for those arriving from a country at risk of transmission. Dengue risk is present: mosquito protection is advisable, especially during the rainy season. The healthcare facilities of Nadi and Suva are adequate for common emergencies; for the more remote islands, insurance with possible medical evacuation is strongly advisable.
Fiji: currency, payments and connectivity
The currency is the Fijian dollar (FJD); credit cards are widely accepted at hotels and resorts, less so in villages and local markets, where cash remains useful. There are no widespread Western ride-hailing apps: local taxis are the main means of transport. For connectivity, the operators Vodafone Fiji and Digicel sell prepaid SIM cards, with a stand at Nadi airport.
