Airports in Kuwait

Kuwait: main airports

Kuwait is served by Kuwait International Airport, the country's only airport, a rapidly expanding hub in the Persian Gulf.

The country, predominantly desert, is known above all for the financial centre of Kuwait City and its modern architecture overlooking the Gulf.

Kuwait: visa and entry requirements

Citizens of many nationalities, including the EU, UK and other selected countries, can obtain a visa on arrival at the airport: the cost is indicatively 3 KWD for European/Schengen citizens, up to about 10 KWD for other eligible nationalities, for tourist stays of up to 90 days.

Always check the updated requirements before departure based on your specific nationality.

Kuwait: safety

Kuwait is generally a safe country for visitors, with very low violent crime.

It is a Muslim country with conservative laws and customs: avoid revealing clothing, public displays of affection and, above all, importing or consuming alcohol, strictly prohibited and severely punished. Always check your country's updated travel advisories.

Kuwait: health situation

No mandatory vaccinations are required for entry from Europe or North America. Summer temperatures are extremely high (often over 45°C): avoid long exposure to the sun between June and September and stay well hydrated.

The healthcare system at private facilities in Kuwait City is of good standard; travel insurance is nonetheless recommended.

Kuwait: currency, payments and connectivity

The currency is the Kuwaiti dinar (KWD), among the highest-value currencies in the world: be careful with your calculations, as even small amounts in dinars correspond to significant sums in euros or dollars.

The official language is Arabic, but English is widely spoken in tourist and business settings. Remember: alcohol is prohibited throughout the country, including personal imports.
