Green Bay: the temple of football on the lake

The smallest city with a major-league American football team, Green Bay is home to a stadium collectively owned by its fans, a unique case in the United States.

The centre is easily explored on foot, just minutes from the legendary Lambeau Field stadium.

The Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers since 1957, remains the only major league stadium in the Americas directly owned by fans through share ownership.

A short walk away, the Lambeau Field Hall of Fame Museum tells the story of the team and the city that practically shares every sporting destiny with it.

Continuing, you visit the National Railroad Museum, which displays historic American locomotives, including a train personally used by General Eisenhower.

As evening approaches, the Green Bay waterfront, facing the homonymous bay of Lake Michigan, offers a peaceful walk away from the sports crowds.

Green Bay Packers shares, sold to the public several times since 1923, do not entitle holders to dividends nor can they be resold for profit: their only value is symbolic, as proof of community belonging.

Green Bay has fewer than one hundred thousand inhabitants, making it by far the smallest city to host a National Football League team.
