Bagdogra Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels

Bagdogra is the main airport for Siliguri and is above all the overland gateway to Darjeeling (about 67 km, 3 hours on mountain roads) and Sikkim (Gangtok is 124 km away, 4-5 hours): many travellers use it only to change transport, not to stay in the city. Anyone continuing the same day finds a few simple properties a few minutes from the terminal; anyone stopping in Siliguri for work or to arrange the climb to the mountains is better off along Sevoke Road and Hill Cart Road, 15-20 minutes by car from the airport, where the international chain hotels are concentrated.
