Chubu Centrair International Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels
Chubu Centrair International Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels
Centrair sits on an artificial island in Ise Bay, but the link to Nagoya is among the fastest in Japan: the Meitetsu μ-SKY rapid train, with all seats reserved, reaches Nagoya station in just 28 minutes. That's why sleeping in the city is almost always the better choice, even with an early-morning flight, while a stay near the airport makes sense only for stopovers of a few hours or for anyone arriving late at night, when the μ-SKY is no longer running.
Nagoya Station
Near the airport link · Direct Meitetsu μ-SKY in 28 minutes, reserved seating required; regular or semi-express lines take 40-60 minutes at a lower price.
Best for: Anyone wanting the fewest possible changes, with the train from the airport and the Shinkansen for the rest of Japan in the same complex.
Pros
- Some hotels are inside the station complex, with an indoor corridor straight to the JR and Shinkansen platforms
- Tokaido Shinkansen station in the same building, convenient for anyone continuing on to Tokyo or Kyoto
Cons
- An office and department-store district, with fewer characterful venues than Sakae in the evening
- The μ-SKY requires seat reservation, so you can't just hop on the way you would on a local train
Recommended hotels in this area
- Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel: Occupies floors 15-52 of the JR Central Towers, directly above Nagoya station: an indoor corridor leads to the JR platforms and the trains to the airport without stepping outside.
- Four Points Flex by Sheraton Nagoya Station: A more affordable chain hotel in the same station area, useful for anyone who wants to stay near the platforms without the price of a hotel in the JR Central tower.

Sakae and Fushimi
Neighbourhood · Meitetsu μ-SKY or regular lines to Nagoya station (28-60 minutes), then 1-2 metro stops on the Higashiyama or Sakura-dori line to Sakae or Fushimi.
Best for: Anyone wanting Nagoya's shopping and nightlife district, accepting one extra metro change compared with staying right at the station.
Pros
- Shops, department stores and evening venues in Sakae within walking distance of the area's hotels
- Hisaya-odori park cuts through the district, handy for an evening stroll away from traffic
Cons
- A metro change is still needed after arriving at Nagoya station
- A livelier, noisier area in the evening than the station district
Recommended hotels in this area
- Conrad Nagoya: On the upper floors of The Landmark Nagoya Sakae tower, directly linked to Sakae subway station; Hisaya-odori park is a few minutes' walk away.
- Hilton Nagoya Hotel: Just steps from Fushimi station, one metro stop from Sakae on the Marunouchi line; convenient for anyone preferring a slightly less touristy atmosphere.
