Kefallinia Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels

Kefalonia airport is about 8 km from Argostoli, the island's capital: a taxi covers the distance in 8-13 minutes for 15-20 euros, while the KTEL Kefalonias bus runs every hour and costs 2-3 euros but takes about 30 minutes. Argostoli, gathered around the De Bosset bridge and the Koutavos lagoon where the Caretta caretta turtles swim, remains the most practical base for those who don't rent a car; those touring the island towards Fiskardo, Myrtos or Assos still face at least 45-60 minutes on the road from the capital, so the hotel's location matters less than the choice of a rental car.
