Kotoka Airport sits inside Airport City, a newly built district less than a kilometre from the terminals: for early departures or short layovers, it's the most convenient option in all of Accra. Travellers staying longer can remain in the same area, in Ridge, the institutional district with the city's grand flagship hotels, or head down to the historic-administrative centre around Makola and the National Theatre; for the beach, you need to travel all the way to Nungua, on the opposite side of the city.
