Kristiansand Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels
Kjevik is about 16 km from central Kristiansand: the Flybussen links the airport and the city in about 28 minutes, but it mainly follows the schedules of flights to Oslo, so on other routes a taxi is often more practical. The Dyreparken area, Norway's largest zoo and theme park, lies halfway and is handy for those who want to stay close to the terminal; the historic centre on the waterfront remains the best choice for those with a free evening.
Dyreparken
Airport area · About 10 minutes by car from Kjevik terminal; central Kristiansand is 15 minutes away, also served by the Flybussen.
Best for: Families visiting Dyreparken and those with a very early flight who prefer to stay close to Kjevik terminal.
Pros
- Dyreparken, Norway's largest zoo and theme park, is right next door
- The Sørlandssenteret shopping centre, the country's largest, is a short walk away
Cons
- A residential and commercial area, without the waterfront or the bars of the historic centre
- You still need the Flybussen or a car to reach central Kristiansand
Recommended hotels in this area
- Scandic Sørlandet: Right next to Dyreparken and the Sørlandssenteret shopping centre, about 10 minutes from Kjevik terminal; one of the region's largest conference hotels.
- New and bright studio near Kristiansand Zoo and Kjevik airport: Studio flat in a residential area a few minutes from the terminal and Dyreparken, designed for those who just need to sleep before a morning flight.

Pros
- Markens gate, the pedestrian shopping street, and the harbour are reachable on foot
- Bystranda beach and the Aquarama water park are on the waterfront
Cons
- On international flights the Flybussen is not always synced with the schedule: sometimes a taxi is needed
- On summer weekends the waterfront and bars are very busy
