Plovdiv International Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels
Plovdiv-Krumovo Airport is about 15 km from the centre and has no public transport links: taxis or rental cars remain the only options, with a journey of about 20 minutes. Because of this there's no real "airport" zone, and travelers arriving or departing still end up choosing accommodation in the city. The pedestrian centre around Central Square and the Great Basilica concentrates the chain hotels, while the Kapana district and the Old Town on its hills offer a more intimate alternative, among art galleries and houses of the Bulgarian Revival.
Centre and Trimontium
City centre · Only taxi or rental car from Plovdiv-Krumovo Airport, about 15 km and 20 minutes: there are no direct buses.
Best for: Those who want the pedestrian centre and the Old Town a few minutes' walk away, in a chain hotel with full amenities.
Pros
- The DoubleTree is a 3-minute walk from the Great Basilica and 10 from the Old Town
- The Ramada Trimontium is 500 metres from the centre and 900 metres from the Kapana district
Cons
- No public transport from the airport: a taxi is mandatory both on arrival and departure
- The pedestrian streets of the centre are very busy on summer weekends

- DoubleTree by Hilton Plovdiv Center: Opens onto Saint Petka Square, a 3-minute walk from the Great Basilica and 10 from the Old Town; indoor pool and gym, among the few of international standard in the city.
- Ramada by Wyndham Plovdiv Trimontium: On Kapitan Raicho Street, 500 metres from the centre and 900 metres from the Kapana district; it inherits its name from the historic Hotel Trimontium.
