San Cristóbal Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels

San Cristóbal airport is the most convenient in the Galápagos: it's less than a kilometre from the centre of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, reachable in a few minutes on foot with light luggage or by taxi for a few dollars. So there are no real alternative areas: all the useful accommodation is in the small town itself, right by the pier and the waterfront.

Best for: Anyone visiting San Cristóbal: it's the island's only town, a few minutes on foot from the runway.

Pros

No real transfer at all: you can walk to the centre right after stepping off the plane
The waterfront, restaurants and the pier for excursions are all within easy reach

Cons

The choice of upscale accommodation is limited compared with Santa Cruz
Beyond the small town centre there's nothing else: the rest of the island needs an organised tour
