Sfax-Thyna is the airport of Tunisia's second city, a port and industrial centre more than a tourist one: the terminal is 6-8 km from the centre, 13-15 minutes by taxi, with the district of Sfax Ouest, around Thyna, slightly closer than the heart of the city on avenue Habib Bourguiba. There are no tourist shuttles or direct trains from the airport. Those travelling for work or a short layover find it handy to stay in Sfax Ouest, a few minutes from the terminal; those who want the Kasbah, the port and the medina move towards the centre, another 5-10 minutes further on.
