Sørkjosen Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels

Sørkjosen airport is practically inside the village, less than a kilometre from the small harbour: with luggage you can walk there in about 10 minutes. Sørkjosen is a hamlet in the municipality of Nordreisa, along the E6 between Tromsø and Alta, and serves mainly those passing through or heading to the Reisa National Park, further south. The two properties at the harbour already cover every need: there are no alternative areas to consider.

Sørkjosen, the small harbour

City centre · Less than 1 km from the airport, about 10 minutes on foot or 2-3 by car; no shuttle needed for such short distances.

Best for: Those passing through on the E6 or heading to the Reisa National Park, south of the village.

Pros
  • The small harbour, with both properties, is a short walk from the terminals
  • A good base too for those heading up the E6 towards the Reisa National Park
Cons
  • The village has very few services beyond the two hotels: no evening life
  • Storslett, the municipality's administrative centre, remains 4-5 km away, not reachable on foot

Recommended hotels in this area

  • Reisafjord Hotel: On the small harbour of Sørkjosen, with views over the Reisafjord; a classic stop for those travelling between Tromsø and Alta along the E6.
  • Henriksen Gjestestue: A family-run guest house on Meieriveien, a short walk from the small harbour; terrace and a more informal atmosphere than the nearby hotel.
