Skavsta is about 108 km from Stockholm, near the small town of Nyköping, and lives almost entirely on low-cost flights: the Flygbussarna to Stockholm's City Terminal takes about 90 minutes, far more than the 18 of the Arlanda Express. For those with a short layover or a dawn flight, the capital is simply too far to be worth the trip: better to stay next to the terminal or head down to the real Nyköping, just 10-15 minutes away, which is not a mere airport outpost but a coastal town with its own historic centre.
