Paranair: The Small CRJ Airline Challenging LATAM from Asunción

History and positioning

The chosen model focuses on niche regional routes, often seasonal, to the beach and tourist destinations most in demand among Paraguayans, as well as year-round connections to medium-sized Argentine cities not always served by other carriers.

The fleet

The entire fleet consists of three Bombardier CRJ100/200s, with gradual growth that depends closely on the availability of new aircraft.

Routes and network

The network covers nine destinations: among the most recent routes are the link to Salta in Argentina, active since February 2025 with two weekly frequencies, the one to San Salvador de Jujuy confirmed at least until May 2026, and a new Asunción-Montevideo-Rivera service starting in December 2025 with two weekly frequencies. In the summer season the airline traditionally adds flights to Punta del Este, Florianópolis and Rio de Janeiro, as well as connections to Buenos Aires and Lima.

What passengers say

• Most cited strength: direct connections to medium-sized Argentine cities that other regional carriers do not cover with the same regularity.
• Most obvious limit: network expansion remains constrained by aircraft availability, with a fleet of just three CRJs leaving very little margin in the event of unscheduled maintenance.

Paranair is useful for those who need to reach regional Argentine destinations or the seasonal beach resorts not covered as directly by LATAM Paraguay. It is less suitable for those who need a lot of flexibility with schedules, given the small size of the fleet.

Always check whether the route you are interested in is seasonal or operates year-round before booking: several of Paranair's beach destinations are added only in the summer months and removed from the rest of the annual schedule.
