Berlin Airport lounges: which one to choose in Terminal 1
At Berlin Brandenburg, all four lounges are in Terminal 1, but they follow different logics: two are run by the airport and open even to those not flying Business, the other two belong to the Lufthansa Group and share the same space in a way that surprises anyone who doesn't know in advance.
The two lounges run directly by the airport, Lounge Tegel and Lounge Tempelhof, are the only ones in Berlin open even to those who simply buy a single entry, without having to prove any particular status or ticket. The Tegel recalls in its decor the old airport it is named after, offers a hot breakfast with white sausages, scrambled eggs and potato rösti, a bar with wine, sparkling wine and spirits, and is also the only one of the two to accept Priority Pass and DragonPass: a recent opening that, according to trade press, has led to recurring overcrowding at peak hours.

Lounge Tegel

Its decor recalls the style of the old Tegel airport, and it offers a hot breakfast with white sausages, scrambled eggs and potato rösti, as well as a bar with wine, sparkling wine and spirits. Opening it to Priority Pass holders, decided at the end of 2024, has according to trade press led to recurring overcrowding at peak hours.

It also hosts the area reserved for HON Circle members and was renovated and expanded in April 2023; a 2026 review describes it as overcrowded at peak hours despite its compact spaces.
Lufthansa First passengers, Business passengers with Senator status, Miles&More Senator/HON Circle members (separate dedicated area) and Star Alliance Gold. Access through American Express Platinum, valid until 30 September 2026, is no longer available from October 2026.

The Tempelhof, on the other hand, remains the more expensive of the two: it has panoramic windows overlooking the south runway, an internal conference room that can be rented and kosher meals on request, but without the opening to external lounge programmes that has made its twin more crowded. Those looking for a calmer setting might therefore prefer it despite the higher cost.
The two Lufthansa Group lounges tell a different story, because they physically share the same space but not the same offer: the Lufthansa Business Lounge, open to Business passengers of the Group's airlines (Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines and Eurowings) and to Miles&More Frequent Traveller members, has only a vending machine. The Group's hot and cold buffet is instead found in the adjacent Senator Lounge, reserved for First passengers, Senator and HON Circle members of the Miles&More programme and those with Star Alliance Gold status, which also hosts the area dedicated specifically to HON Circle members. Renovated and expanded in 2023, the Senator is described by the most recent reviews as overcrowded at peak hours despite its compact spaces; since October 2026, moreover, it is no longer accessible with the American Express Platinum card, an entry that was still valid until September and that many travellers used to use routinely.
In short, in Berlin the choice almost always comes down to one's own source of access: those with Priority Pass or DragonPass almost have to choose the Lounge Tegel, those who prefer to pay for a calmer single entry look to the Tempelhof, and those flying with the Lufthansa Group just need to remember that the buffet is in the Senator Lounge and not in the adjacent Business Lounge, even though the two lounges share the same physical space. For those who were counting on Amex Platinum access to the Senator, finally, it is worth knowing that since October 2026 that door has closed, so it is best to count on another type of access before arriving at the airport.
