Taipei Taoyuan lounges: how to choose between T1 and T2
Choosing the right lounge at Taoyuan is simpler than it looks, if you start from your own airline and departure terminal. Between lounges reserved for passengers flying with a particular airline and lounges that open with Priority Pass, DragonPass or an American Express Platinum card, the choice depends mostly on who you're flying with and what you're carrying in your pocket.
At Taipei Taoyuan, lounges fall into two families: those run by the airlines, open only to passengers flying with them or holding a certain status, and the multi-access lounges of the Plaza Premium group, recently renovated and accessible with Priority Pass, DragonPass or an American Express Platinum card. Among Taoyuan's four Plaza Premium lounges, The Jade at Terminal 1 is the only one open round the clock, while The Terroir at Terminal 2 stands out for its hot and cold buffet with live cooking and a few suites designed for a short rest; its twin The Crest, also at Terminal 2, is the smallest of the group and closes earlier than the others.

At Terminal 1, the airline lounges revolve around China Airlines and Cathay Pacific: China Airlines' Dynasty Lounge serves as the main lounge for first and business class passengers and for the higher tiers of the Dynasty Flyer programme, while Cathay Pacific's focuses on the Noodle Bar and a Food Hall with Asian and international specialities for its premium passengers and oneworld Sapphire members. Those flying with Starlux on short-haul Asian routes instead find the Terminal 1 Galactic Lounge, smaller than its twin at Terminal 2.
Terminal 2 concentrates the rest of the offering, starting with EVA Air's four lounges: The Infinity, with showers and Chinese and Western cuisine, remains the most complete; The Garden is reserved for holders of the Infinity MileageLands Diamond card and serves Taiwanese noodles made to order; The Star welcomes Gold members regardless of travel class, with themed blue lighting; The Club, reserved for Silver members and Star Alliance Gold members, opens only in two time slots of the day. These are joined by China Airlines' second lounge, originally created only for the higher tiers of the Dynasty Flyer programme and later extended to business passengers, and the Oriental Club Lounge, open all night but with reduced service during the quietest hours.
Anyone not flying with any of these airlines can always rely on the Plaza Premium lounges or, for those departing in first class, on the Starlux Airlines First Class Lounge, designed more for transit passengers, or on the Huan Yu VIP Terminal: a standalone building between the two terminals, with its own faster screening, private rooms and a play corner for children, reserved for first class passengers with one guest.
Ultimately, the choice between Taoyuan's lounges depends first of all on which airline you're flying with and which status or travel class you hold: the most selective lounges remain those dedicated to China Airlines, EVA Air, Cathay Pacific and Starlux. Those who don't fit these categories still have room to choose between the Plaza Premium lounges and the Oriental Club Lounge, accessible with Priority Pass, DragonPass or an American Express Platinum card. For those flying first class and wanting maximum seclusion, there's finally the option of the Huan Yu VIP Terminal.
