Washington National: the right lounge for every concourse
At Washington National airport, the lounges are all in Terminal 2, but split between Concourses B, C and E: American Airlines actually has three, one of which is closed for a renovation that will make it the airport's largest. Capital One and American Express, instead, have placed their lounges in the central National Hall.
American Airlines is the carrier with the most space at Washington National: the Admirals Club in Concourse E is the largest of the three and follows the carrier's new design concept, with a nursing room; the one in Concourse C adds a meeting room; the third, in Concourse D, is instead closed for a renovation that will bring it to almost double its current size, with a view of the Capitol and the Washington Monument, though a reopening date hasn't been set yet.
The first lounge built with American Airlines' new design concept inspired by Washington: 1,350 square meters for 236 seats, the airport's largest, with a nursing room.

In the National Hall, the central area before the concourses, are the two lounges tied to a credit card: Capital One Landing, which hosts a restaurant with a menu curated by a chef and is accessible even to those without a Capital One card through a separate counter, with a reduced rate for those who do hold a Venture X. Just showing the boarding pass for a flight departing that same day is enough, even for those merely connecting, an openness that not every lounge at Washington National offers. American Express's The Centurion Lounge, reserved for Platinum and Centurion cardholders, is instead one of the network's most recent, opened in July 2024 with shower suites in addition to the workstations already common across all of the brand's lounges; Delta SkyMiles Reserve cardholders can also access it, but only if departing on a Delta flight that same day.
Delta and United, instead, each have just one lounge, both in Concourse B: the Delta Sky Club's windows look directly onto the runway, though those connecting can't take advantage of the entry window reserved for those departing from Washington National, while the United Club occupies a space of historic origin that gives it a different look from the network's other lounges, while keeping the same access rules for business passengers and status members. Almost everywhere at this airport, from the Centurion Lounge to the Delta Sky Club, entry still depends on the three hours before departure: a common rule worth remembering before arriving too early.
At Washington National, the choice depends above all on your flight's concourse, since the airport is compact and the lounges aren't far from one another. Those flying American have three options if Concourse D isn't involved in the ongoing renovation; those with a Capital One or American Express card find their lounges in the National Hall; those flying Delta or United have a single lounge each, both in Concourse B.
