Car rental at Ibiza Airport

Car rental is a very popular option on Ibiza, especially for those wanting to reach the island's most remote coves: Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Sixt, and Goldcar all have dedicated desks at the airport.

In July and August, vehicle availability runs out very quickly: booking well in advance is almost essential.

Bring your driver's license, ID document, and credit card in the driver's name for the security deposit; book well in advance during peak season. Spanish citizens and those from other EU/EEA countries drive with just their national license; for all others, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is generally also required.

Hotels near Ibiza Airport

Ibiza airport is only 8 km from Ibiza Town, 15-20 minutes by taxi or 25-30 with the L10 bus (the L10E express line runs only in summer): whatever time you arrive or leave, you can comfortably stay in the city without lengthening the journey. The real choice is between neighbourhoods: Dalt Vila, the UNESCO World Heritage walled city, for those who want history and quiet; Marina Botafoch and Talamanca, modern and close to the nightclubs; Figueretas, a more intimate seaside neighbourhood halfway between the centre and the clubs of Platja d'en Bossa.

Airport services

Despite its compact size, the airport offers services designed to handle a very large international passenger base during peak months.

Shopping & Duty Free

The duty-free area offers a wide selection of perfumery and spirits, very busy in the evenings with passengers heading to the island's nightlife.

Lounges & relaxation

There is a VIP lounge located after security with paid access or major travel credit cards. Entry is generally by day-pass, except for Priority Pass holders or airline alliance members. The lounge is business-standard with enhanced offerings during summer peak season. Hours generally follow flight schedules.

Connectivity & Wi-Fi

Free WiFi managed by Aena covers the entire terminal area. No telecommunications retailer operates at the airport; for a local SIM, visit a Movistar, Vodafone, or Orange store in town.

Families & Children

There are dedicated areas for diaper changing and nursing, also useful for families choosing the island outside peak nightlife months.

Terminal guide

The airport has a single terminal, significantly expanded in 2015 to respond to steady growth in summer tourist traffic, with check-in and security areas distributed across multiple lines to handle traffic peaks.

On peak traffic days, typically Saturday in full season, security check wait times can lengthen noticeably compared to the rest of the week.

From check-in to gate you typically walk a few minutes; security checks can take longer during peak summer months.
