Hungary: main airports
Hungary has four airports with active connections: Budapest, the capital and main international gateway, Debrecen, the country's second city, Pécs in the south, and Sármellék, the Lake Balaton airport.

Hungary: visa and entry requirements
As a member of the European Union and the Schengen area, Hungary does not require a visa for EU citizens, who travel with a valid ID card or passport, nor for citizens of many other countries (including the US, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia) for tourist stays of up to 90 days.
Hungary: safety
Hungary is generally very safe for tourists, with the usual precautions against petty theft and scams in the crowded tourist areas of Budapest, particularly around the central station and in downtown venues: always check the bill at bars and restaurants before paying, as cases of overcharging tourists have been reported at some downtown venues.
Hungary: health situation
No specific vaccinations are required for entry. The healthcare system is adequate for common emergencies; the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is valid for EU citizens. Travel insurance nonetheless remains advisable.
Hungary: currency, payments and connectivity
The currency is the Hungarian forint (HUF), not the euro: Hungary has not yet adopted the single currency. Credit cards are widely accepted in tourist areas, cash remains useful at local markets. Bolt operates in Budapest and is generally preferred over street taxis for price transparency. For connectivity, the operators Telekom, Yettel and Vodafone Hungary sell prepaid SIM cards; as an EU citizen, arrivals from another EU country benefit from free roaming ("Roam Like At Home").
