Pakistan: main airports
Pakistan is served by several international airports: Karachi Jinnah International, the busiest in the country, Lahore Allama Iqbal International, Islamabad International, the capital, and the smaller Sialkot.
The country offers an enormous variety of landscapes, from the Himalayan peaks of the Karakoram to historic cities along the ancient Silk Road.

Pakistan: visa and entry requirements
Since 2026 Pakistan has required, for most nationalities (including Italian), a paid eVisa to be applied for online in advance: the fast-track visa-on-arrival procedures have been suspended for most countries, with processing times generally of 7-20 working days.
Always check the updated requirements on the official portal before departure, given the frequency of recent changes to visa policy.
Pakistan: safety
Security conditions vary considerably from region to region: major cities such as Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi are generally visitable with the usual precautions in central areas, while some north-western areas (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan) and border areas require greater caution or are not recommended.
Always check your country's updated travel advisories before planning your itinerary.
Pakistan: health situation
Vaccinations against hepatitis A and B, typhoid and polio are generally recommended; consult a doctor specialised in travel medicine well in advance, also given the risk of malaria in some rural areas.
It is advisable to drink only bottled water and pay attention to food hygiene, especially in major cities.
Pakistan: currency, payments and connectivity
The currency is the Pakistani rupee (PKR). The official languages are Urdu and English, the latter widely used in commerce and administration.
Always agree on the taxi fare in advance or use official taxi counters at the airport; ride-hailing apps such as InDrive are common in major cities.
