A Day in Malselv, Norway
Inland from Troms, along the valley carved by the Malselva River, the municipality of Malselv unites fluvial landscapes to mountains exceeding a thousand meters in elevation.
Far from the coast, the area lives from agriculture, river fishing, and seasonal tourism, in a more continental context than nearby fjords.
The Malselva river, well-known among Norwegian fishermen for salmon fishing, flows through the entire valley with rapids and natural pools.
Heading toward the highlands, you reach the Istind area, a mountain that dominates the valley and offers popular summer hiking routes frequented by local residents.
A few kilometers away, you'll find small traditional farms, still active in animal husbandry and dairy production according to artisanal methods.
Toward evening, in winter, local ski slopes come alive with regional skiers, while in summer the valley remains silent and very green.
Målselv represents inland Norway, less photographed than the fjords yet equally rich in authentic river and mountain landscapes.
A destination for those seeking the more rural and least touristed side of Troms, away from the better-known coastal routes.
