Florø Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels
Florø airport is less than 2 km from the centre: a taxi covers the distance in 5-10 minutes. Besides scheduled flights, the terminal is also the base for the helicopters that carry workers to the North Sea platforms, including the Snorre field: part of the traffic, then, is made up of offshore shift workers rather than tourists. Being Norway's westernmost city, gathered around its harbour, staying in the centre remains the simplest choice even for those flying at dawn; those looking instead for a quieter base for fishing can look to Krokane, on the fjord just outside town.
Central Florø
City centre · Taxi Florø from the centre to the airport in 5-10 minutes; no dedicated shuttle, but the distances are minimal.
Best for: Those who want the harbour, the ferries and the town centre a short walk away, with the airport a 5-10 minute taxi ride.
Pros
- Harbour, ferry terminal and the shopping street of Strandgata within walking distance
- More price ranges to choose from, from the B&B to the hotel with fjord views
Cons
- In high season rooms sell out fast because of the offshore helicopter shift changes
- Limited evening life compared to bigger Norwegian cities, being a town of about 8,000 residents
Recommended hotels in this area
- Quality Hotel Florø: Born from an old herring-salting house from the 1890s, flanked by a wing from 1997: the Bryggekanten restaurant looks over the bay of Florevika and the shopping street of Strandgata is right next door.
- Scandic Victoria Florø: A historic hotel in the centre, switched from the Comfort brand to Scandic on 1 December 2025 while remaining under management of the same owning family; 97 rooms and conference rooms for up to 150 people.
- Kinn Hotell Florø: A central B&B run by the Efinor group, which in Florø offers lodging to both local industry workers and tourists; simple rooms with private bathroom a few minutes on foot from the harbour.

Krokane, on the fjord
Nearby town · About 2 km from central Florø and 4 km from the airport, so 5-10 minutes by car or taxi in either case.
Best for: Those coming for fishing or wanting a longer stay in a cabin on the fjord, a few minutes from both the centre and the airport.
Pros
- Cabins and apartments on the fjord with an outdoor pool, more spacious than a hotel room
- Among the highest ratings in the area, frequented mostly by those coming for the fishing
Cons
- You need a car to get around: no shops or restaurants within easy reach as in the centre
- Designed for multi-night stays, less suited to those stopping only for a layover
Recommended hotels in this area
- Nordica Resort Florø: Cabins and apartments on the fjord at Krokane, with an outdoor pool and direct water access: started as a campsite (Krokane Camping) and today frequented mostly by those coming to Norway for the fishing.
