Batumi International Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels
Batumi airport is the most convenient of Georgia's three airports: just 5 km from the centre, with taxis and bus 9/10 reaching the Boulevard on the Black Sea in about 15 minutes. For a seaside city like this one, the seafront is almost always the right choice, with the big chain hotels concentrated along the New Boulevard; Europe Square and the old town are still only a few minutes away on foot or by taxi.
Boulevard and New Boulevard
City centre · Taxi or bus 9/10 from the airport in about 15 minutes (5 km); the buses run from 7:00 to 22:30.
Best for: For anyone who wants Batumi's beach and seafront within walking distance of the room, with pools and spas for rainy days.
Pros
- Beach, pools and restaurants within walking distance of the seafront hotels
- A good choice of international chains, useful for anyone looking for predictable standards
Cons
- In summer the Boulevard and the beach are very crowded at weekends
- Seafront hotel prices rise sharply during the high-season months (June-August)
Recommended hotels in this area
- Radisson Blu Hotel Batumi: On the private beach of Iveria Beach, a step from Seaside Park; one of the first big international hotels to appear in Batumi, opened in 2011.
- Sheraton Batumi Hotel: Right on the pavement of the Boulevard, on Rustaveli street; location rated 9.5/10 by Kayak users.
- Courtyard by Marriott Batumi: Occupies the first five floors of the Alliance Palace tower, on the New Boulevard: the other floors are private apartments, often rented out on Booking under names that evoke Marriott without actually being run by it; this is the only one with the group's official brand and management.

Europe Square and the Old Town
Neighbourhood · Taxi from the airport in about 15-20 minutes; on foot, the seafront and the beach are 10 minutes from Europe Square.
Best for: For anyone who prefers Batumi's old town, between the architecture of Europe Square and the pedestrian streets, while still staying just a few minutes from the sea.
Pros
- Europe Square, the pedestrian streets and the restaurants of the old town are just a few steps away
- An area less crowded than the main beach on summer weekends
Cons
- Some streets in the old town are pedestrian and narrow, not very practical with luggage
- A smaller choice of big chain hotels compared to the Boulevard
