Blaise Diagne International Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels
Diamniadio, near the airport
Airport area · About 20-30 minutes by car or hotel shuttle from the airport; for central Dakar you then need another 30-45 minutes on the same tolled motorway.
Best for: One-night layovers, morning departures and business trips tied to the new administrative city, to avoid the longer trip to Dakar.
- The shortest possible transfer from the airport, with its own shuttle at both hotels
- Diamniadio is Senegal's fastest-growing city, with a newly built sports arena and shopping centres
- An area still under construction: few restaurants or bars outside the hotels themselves
- Dakar's historic centre and Gorée are still 45-60 minutes away by car
Recommended hotels in this area
- Courtyard by Marriott Dakar Diamniadio: Senegal's first Marriott hotel, opened at the end of 2024 about 20 minutes from the airport; shuttle to Blaise Diagne and rooms designed for business travellers of the new administrative city.
- Four Points by Sheraton Dakar Diamniadio: About 20 minutes from the airport with its own shuttle; same Diamniadio hub as the Courtyard, designed for those stopping just one night between two flights.

- Place de l'Indépendance, the Kermel market and the Gorée ferry terminal within walking distance
- The city's highest concentration of restaurants and evening life, plus the bay's seafront
- The transfer from the airport remains the longest among all the city's areas
- Heavy traffic at rush hour on the only motorway connecting Diass to the Plateau
Recommended hotels in this area
- Pullman Dakar Teranga: On the bay of Dakar a few steps from Place de l'Indépendance, with a heated pool and views of Gorée; among the most central chain hotels in the city.

- A hotel literally on the beach, in the elegant Fann district on the Cape Verde peninsula
- Quieter than the Plateau in the evening, with an in-house spa and pool for those who don't want to move around
- You still need a taxi for Place de l'Indépendance and the Kermel market
- Among the highest prices in the city, in line with the 5-star positioning
Recommended hotels in this area
