Fujairah International Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels
Fujairah Airport is practically inside the city, 2-3 km from the centre: those with only a work stop or a short layover find the only chain hotel right next to the terminal. The genuine beach resorts, on the other hand, are all an hour further north, on the Al Aqah coast towards the border with Ras Al Khaimah, where the sea is more beautiful but the trip gets a lot longer.
In the city, next to the airport
Airport area · 2-2.8 km from the terminal, a few minutes by car or on foot along Al Maktoum Road.
Best for: Business trips, short layovers and those who don't need the beach.
Pros
- The only international chain hotel literally next to the airport
- 2.8 km from the city centre, handy too for those with business in the area
Cons
- No private beach: the sea requires 45-60 minutes towards Al Aqah
- An urban area, not designed for a beach holiday
Recommended hotels in this area
- Doubletree By Hilton Fujairah City: On Al Maktoum Road, adjacent to Fujairah Airport (2-2.8 km) and 2.8 km from the city centre: the most practical option for those who don't need to reach the beaches to the north.

Al Aqah and the north coast
Neighbourhood · About 50-60 minutes by car from Fujairah airport, towards the border with Ras Al Khaimah and Dibba.
Best for: Those who want Fujairah's real beach holiday, between the Hajar mountains and the Indian Ocean.
Pros
- Among the most beautiful beaches of the UAE's east coast, with the Hajar mountains as a backdrop
- Resorts from several international chains, with a wide choice of categories and prices
Cons
- Almost an hour from the airport, to factor in for morning flights or short layovers
- An isolated area: outside the resorts there's little beyond the beach itself
Recommended hotels in this area
- InterContinental Fujairah Resort by IHG: Directly on Al Aqah beach, with a private guest area on the area's pale sand and turquoise water.
- Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort: Between the Hajar mountains and the Indian Ocean: one of the largest infinity pools in the UAE, eight restaurants and a kids' club.
- Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort: In Dibba, at the northern end of the Al Aqah coast towards Ras Al Khaimah: an outdoor pool with a sun terrace overlooking the ocean.
