Godthaab / Nuuk Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels

Nuuk's new international airport, opened in November 2024 with a runway extended to 2,200 metres, is just 4 km from the city centre: for the first time, Greenland has direct flights from Copenhagen without a stopover in Kangerlussuaq. Nuuk is a small city with no real airport hotel zone, so almost all accommodation is found in the centre, a few minutes by taxi or a short walk from the harbour. The choice is mostly about budget and atmosphere, between a large city hotel, a quiet residence or a former seamen's home, rather than about distance from the airport, which is similar everywhere.
