Hamburg Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels

Hamburg has a very convenient direct rail link: the S-Bahn S1 takes you from the terminal to the central station in about 25 minutes, with trains every 10 minutes during the day. Anyone with a dawn flight or landing after midnight finds it convenient to stay a few minutes from the terminal; those with more time can choose between the station area and St. Georg, the historic center near the Michel and the Reeperbahn, or HafenCity, between the Elbphilharmonie and the canals of the Speicherstadt.
