Kansas City International Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels

The airport is 20-25 minutes from downtown, with no direct trains: the purpose of the trip matters more than the time saved. For a dawn flight, a late-night arrival or a short layover, KCI offers hotels with a free shuttle just minutes from the terminals. Those staying more than one night gain by sleeping in the city: since October 2025 the KC Streetcar has connected Downtown with Country Club Plaza and Westport for free, two neighborhoods with restaurants and evening life within walking distance, even though the stretch to the airport remains road-only.
