Krabi Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels

Krabi airport is not close to any of the beaches the province is famous for: Krabi Town, the administrative centre and the hub for ferries to the islands, is the nearest area, while Ao Nang, the real tourist base, remains 25-30 km away. Railay, reachable only by boat from Ao Nang or Krabi Town, has no hotel area of its own linked to the airport. Those wanting quieter beaches can push on to Klong Muang, a little beyond Ao Nang on the same road.

Krabi Town

Nearby town · About 12-15 km from the airport: taxi 14-20 minutes, local bus about 25 minutes.

Best for: Those who need to catch a ferry to Koh Lanta or Koh Phi Phi, or want lower prices than in the beach areas.

Best for: Those who want the most complete tourist base in the province, with restaurants, island-trip agencies and boats to Railay.

Direct boats to Railay and the nearby islands, without having to go back to Krabi Town

Cons

The longest transfer between the airport and a tourist area of the province
In high season the single coastal road to Ao Nang can get congested
