Mikonos Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels

Mykonos airport is unusually close to everything: less than 4 km, about 10 minutes, from Chora itself. Unlike Santorini, here there isn't really an 'airport zone' separate from the centre: the choice is more between the alleys of Chora, with its nightlife and the Windmills, and the Ano Mera and Elia side, slower-paced and beach-oriented, 15 km and 20-25 minutes away.

Chora, the town centre

City centre · Less than 4 km from the terminal, about 10 minutes by taxi (15-20 euros by day, more at night); no direct bus between the airport and Chora.

Best for: Travellers who want the Windmills, Little Venice and the nightlife within walking distance, with the airport just minutes away.

Elia and Ano Mera, the quiet side of the island

Neighbourhood · About 14-15 km from the terminal, 20-25 minutes by car; Chora is then another 15-20 minutes from the Ano Mera area.

Best for: Travellers looking for quieter beaches and a slower pace, accepting the need to rely on a car or taxi for the centre.

Pros

Elia is one of the widest and least crowded beaches on the island compared to those near Chora
