Roberts International Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels
Roberts International Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels
Roberts International Airport is at Harbel, in Margibi County, about 56 km from the centre of Monrovia: with traffic on the Robertsfield Highway the transfer takes from an hour to over 90 minutes, and there is no verifiable property just a few minutes from the terminals. Those who need to stay overnight therefore choose between two areas of the capital, both roughly the same distance from the airport: the diplomatic district of Mamba Point, on the seafront, or Sinkor, the strip of offices and hotels along Tubman Boulevard. The choice depends more on the desired atmosphere - more residential in Mamba Point, more commercial in Sinkor - than on the convenience of the transfer, which remains long in both cases.
Mamba Point and the diplomatic area
Neighbourhood · About 56 km from the airport; from an hour to over 90 minutes by taxi or shuttle depending on traffic on the Robertsfield Highway.
Best for: Travellers who want the seafront and the diplomatic district, among the most guarded and expat-frequented areas of the capital.
Pros
- A diplomatic district by the sea, a few minutes' walk from embassies, TM Mall and the Masonic Temple
- Among the most guarded areas of the capital, with several hotels offering a shuttle on request
Cons
- The transfer from the airport remains long however you arrive, by taxi or with a private shuttle
- The Atlantic beaches here are not suitable for swimming because of the strong currents

- Mamba Point Hotel: A family-run boutique hotel on the seafront of the diplomatic area, 5 minutes by car from the centre; airport shuttle on request despite the distance.
